Welcome to our first Innowatts’ Employee Spotlight! Our teams may be working remotely right now, protecting ourselves and communities from COVID-19, but Innowatts is still actively hiring for a variety of roles.
In our employee spotlights, which we will be sharing every couple of weeks on our blog, we’ll give you a glimpse into the roles and lives of our diverse employees from around the world.
In this week’s Employee Spotlight, we meet Gaurav Arya, who is a Product Engineer and Technical Lead at Innowatts. In this role, he is responsible for the Innowatts Operations Center among a list of other things. Let’s dive in!
Gaurav, where are you from and where did you go to school?
I am from Baghpat, in the Uttar Pradesh state in India, north of New Delhi. I have a Bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Computers from the University of Pune.
Where did you work before coming to Innowatts?
I actually had my own startup before this, Planeer Technologies, in Dehradun India. The company focused on IT products in the education domain. It was a cloud-based solution and accessible via web or mobile.
What do you do at Innowatts currently?
I am a problem solver – I provide solutions to problems related to product development and our cloud infrastructure. Right now, I am setting up the Innowatts Operations Center (or what we call the IWOC) in our India office. The IWOC will start handling all the Level One, Level Two, and Level Three customer issues very soon.
How has your career grown since being at Innowatts?
I started at Innowatts as a Java Lead in September of 2017. Since then, I have gained a lot of skills leading several teams, including IW Ops Center, which I am working on now, and Smart Alerts, which I developed and designed from scratch, and served as the tech lead on. I also had roles with Infra Ops, and the Demo Platform. I have been able to work with an array of technologies, and with many people across teams and products, which has helped me grow as a professional.
What do you find most exciting or rewarding about working for Innowatts?
Everything moves quickly at Innowatts. I have been able to switch to an entirely new product with a new tech stack every six to eight months. This gives me an opportunity to evolve as an engineer, as well as a leader. I also like being able to design and develop products from scratch.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love trekking and adventure sports. I also enjoy cooking, playing soccer, traveling and chess. I also got married recently, on February 8th!
Congrats! Where is the most interesting place you have traveled to?
Inside Bannerghatta National Park, in Bangalore, India. There is a part where we visitors are enclosed in a secured area overnight and the Bengal tigers, bears, bison, crocodiles and many other wild animals roam around free. It was like being inside a National Geographic film.
