In this week’s employee spotlight, we meet Robert Jackson who is a Data Engineer currently working on our gas forecasting product.
Hey Rob! Where are you from and where did you go to school?
I was born in Dallas, Texas and lived there until middle school. From there, my family moved to Florida and then eventually to San Diego. For college, I went to UC San Diego where I studied economics and computer science.

I worked for a health care startup for a little while and then moved on to work for WeWork, which is how I ended up in Houston, before coming to Innowatts.
What do you do at Innowatts currently?
In the simplest terms, I write words on a computer that make it do things. But seriously, my real role is a data engineer. I help make sure that our products work. Currently, I am working on our gas forecast, and I write software that allows us to perform analytics and modeling at scale.
What types of problems do you solve at work?
Essentially, I ensure that our machine learning models work for our products and create transformation processes to allow our data analysts to analyze data more effectively. Secondly, I create pipelines that add value internally and to our clients
How has your career grown since being at Innowatts?
I have experienced a lot of growth, certainly. I’ve been able to handle things that I may not have had the seniority to do at other companies. Here I have been able to build more and learn more than I think I could have at any other job.

Rob, where do you find all this time??
Rob: I like to dabble.
What is your favorite food?
Tikka Masala or Chicken Shawarma for sure.
