Innowatts secures placing in winners circle for American-Made Net Load Forecasting competition

I am delighted to be able to share some really exciting news with you.

Innowatts recently participated in the American-Made Net Load Forecasting Challenge, run by the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy office, and we have been informed that Innowatts has secured a place in the winner’s circle!

The Net Load Forecasting competition aims to increase adoption of the state-of-the-art in net load forecasting, enabling grid operators to harness solar and other distributed generators more efficiently. The competition, which had more than 400 participants across 94 teams drawn from both Industry and Academia, involved submitting daily day-ahead probabilistic net load forecasts, with an hourly resolution, across diverse climatic locations in the United States. These forecasts were evaluated using the DOE-funded Solar Forecast Arbiter platform which is administered by EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute), an independent non-profit energy research, development, and deployment organization.

Innowatts has always believed in the transformative impact and customer value that accurate forecasting, identification of key BTM insights, and supporting solutions can deliver, and I think that our performance in this competition is a clear reflection of the dedication and commitment of the entire Innowatts team to delivering best-in-class accurate forecasts to our customers. Indeed, as Distributed Energy Resources (DER) continue to proliferate, it further underscores the importance of employing AI-driven load forecasting solutions.

The results of the competition will be announced at the RE+ conference in Las Vegas on September 12th and even though we are pretty good at forecasting we do need to wait until then to learn our final placing amongst the winners!
